The first week of the 2024/2025 PEPP round took place in Münster from October 21st to October 25th. This year, a total of 24 doctoral students from all over Europe who are researching in the field of European private law came together.

Elsemieke Daalder, James Fowkes, Anna Kirchhefer-Lauber, Sebastian Lohsse, Christian Rüsing and many external colleagues contributed with informative lectures and interactive workshops, which the participants enjoyed very much. Another highlight was a trip to the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg on Wednesday, where Anne Röthel, Antonia Sommerfeld and Henrike von Scheliha organised the exciting programme. PEPP is sponsored by the law firm CMS, which also held a workshop and organised a reception at LUX.

In January, the doctoral students will meet in Katowice and Krakow, which everyone is already very much looking forward to.

The fourth and last week of the PEPP round in 2023/2024 was held from June 17th to June in 21st in Valencia. Besides lectures and the last set of PhD presentations the academic programme consisted of a moot court that the PEPPers had started to prepare in Cambridge. In Valencia, they took the roles of various participants in a European Court of Justice hearing regarding a case concerning a European private law matter. The cultural programme included a guided tour of the port of Valencia as well as listening to a hearing of the customary court Tribunal de las Aguas, one of the oldest legal institutions in Europe, which convenes weekly in front of Valencia Cathedral. Another highlight were frequent visits to the beaches of the city. Overall, the week in Valencia concluded a year with countless inspiring experiences and new friendships.
