First week of this years PEPP round

During the first week of this PEPP round, which took place from 24th until 28th of October in Münster, postgraduates from all over Europe participated in many interesting lectures and activities. Among these were for example an eye-opening lecture held by Prof. Guggenberger that showed how virtual currencies like Bitcoins can be understood from a judicial point of view. Likewise noteworthy is the lecture held by Dr. Alexander Scheuch on the specific conflicts between professional sports associations and European law.

On Wednesday the participants paid a visit to the Hamburg-based Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law. The Institute organized several lectures and a tour through the fascinating library of the MPI. Giving an insight into their work with the European Court of Justice on Friday, Kathleen Stranz and Ralf Kanitz from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs taught the functioning of the court based on a recently decided case.
