The fourth and last week of the PEPP round in 2023/2024 was held from June 17th to June in 21st in Valencia. Besides lectures and the last set of PhD presentations the academic programme consisted of a moot court that the PEPPers had started to prepare in Cambridge. In Valencia, they took the roles of various participants in a European Court of Justice hearing regarding a case concerning a European private law matter. The cultural programme included a guided tour of the port of Valencia as well as listening to a hearing of the customary court Tribunal de las Aguas, one of the oldest legal institutions in Europe, which convenes weekly in front of Valencia Cathedral. Another highlight were frequent visits to the beaches of the city. Overall, the week in Valencia concluded a year with countless inspiring experiences and new friendships.
The programme for the PEPP-week in Valencia (17.06.-21.06.) is now available here.
the third week of PEPP took place from March 19th to March 22nd at the University of Cambridge, where the participants stayed at the premises of Downing College. The academic program consisted of various lectures, a number of which focussed on the role of AI in law. It also included the preparation of a moot court in European private law, which will be conducted during the next PEPP-week. For the moot court, the participants were divided into groups of three and started to prepare their arguments. Moreover, the next share of PEPPers had the opportunity to present their PHD theses. Besides the academic part of the week, the participation in a traditional formal dinner was a highlight. Also, everyone enjoyed exploring the city of Cambridge. As many friendships between PEPPers have developed by now, they can't wait to see each other again in June in Valencia.
